Like a lot
of keen skydivers I started out by doing one jump just for
fun. I was instantly drawn by the excitement and adrenaline
that a sport such as this can provide. I was no stranger to
adventure sports. I spent several years racing motorcycles
at national and international events throughout the UK and
Europe and was a member of the Great Britain Luge Team, competing
in both the World Cup and World Championships.
But skydiving was different. The sheer freedom that the three
dimensional aerial playground gave me really grabbed me and
here I am now 8 years later with over a thousand skydives
behind me, a host of medals from local, regional and national
championships and most importantly of all, one very big smile!
That’s what I love most about this sport. You can participate
in something so extraordinary, be as competitive or non-competitive
as you like, and meet people from so many walks of life.
Drop zones have such an eclectic mix of personalities, from
young to old and from every profession you can imagine. My
main love in this sport now is freefall photography, capturing
on film people experiencing the thrill of freefall, be it
for the first time or the thousandth. I am also an instructor.
I get a lot of satisfaction from introducing people to this
sport that I love so much. Come and give it a go, you never
know, you might like it too! |
